We’re very excited to let you know that The British Pilgrimage Trust has been selected to participate in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge.
That means that every donation made to our campaign via BigGive.org during the week of Tue 3 Dec - Tue 10 Dec will be doubled.
That’s right - DOUBLED!
So whatever you can give, no matter the size, every donation will make double the difference in supporting us to deliver the work we do, which you can read about by scrolling down this page.
What can you do now?
- Donate during the period of Tuesday 3 Dec - Tuesday 10 Dec, 2024 at this URL: https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a056900002TPVzEAAX
- Share the campaign page with friends, family and on social networks — anyone who would like to make a donation, large or small — will see it doubled during this Big Give Christmas Challenge week.
Thank you!

About the British Pilgrimage Trust
Our registered charity, The British Pilgrimage Trust, is dedicated to modernising the ancient practice of pilgrimage. We seek to connect people of all faiths and none to Britain’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. From cathedrals and ancient trees to river sources, holy wells and standing stones, we invite everyone to embark on a personal journey that promotes holistic well-being through walking in the footsteps of our ancestors. Pilgrimage heals our mind, body and soul, and connects us to places, communities, history and landscapes, enriching our lives through the feelings they evoke.
We believe in making pilgrimages inclusive, allowing people to bring their own beliefs and make their journey for purely personal reasons. Since our charity was founded in 2014, we have seen and heard how this ancient rite offers powerful solutions to modern life challenges by fostering personal growth and mental wellness through a deeper connection to nature and heritage.
What we do at The British Pilgrimage Trust

- Reach new audiences through our website, social media and traditional media.
- Promote hundreds of routes, such as our one-day pilgrimages and our 250-mile Old Way from Southampton to Canterbury, along with hundreds of places.
Inform
- Share the most extensive directory of pilgrimage routes and places across Britain, including those researched and created either by our charity or passionate local individuals and groups.
- Offer free digital navigation maps, guiding pilgrims via GPS.
- Providing guidance to those who want to create new routes or champion existing routes.
Plan
- Provide practical resources to make pilgrimage happen.
- Establish a Sanctuary network for affordable overnight stays that sustain local communities.
Engage
- Enable grassroots activity by training locals to guide groups and organise events.
- Partner with individuals and organisations to make pilgrimage accessible, especially for under-served communities and those facing life transitions and emotional troubles.
- Introduce pilgrimage directly to young and old who are new to the countryside.
Please join our growing community on this journey. Bring your own beliefs. Donate to the Big Give now before noon on Tuesday, 10th December 2024.
Walking is for the body, pilgrimage for the soul.
