Fordwich Mini Pilgrimage - Heritage Open Days
Discover the ancient art of pilgrimage on this 2.5 mile taster journey especially for Heritage Open Days, in partnership with the Churches Conservation Trust.
Walk with the British Pilgrimage Trust's Dawn Champion from Fordwich on a circular route ending at St Mary's. Discover the pilgrim routes that connect Fordwich to Canterbury, the continent, and beyond. This is a Bring Your Own Beliefs journey open to everyone, and will introduce some of the modern pilgrim practices. It will include new ways of meeting old churches (bring your own beliefs); songs, stories and folklore; opportunities for silence; natural beauty and the wild places between the roads.
A gentle pace with some hills, some stiles and some walking on country lanes without pavement. Bring sensible footwear, waterproofs, water bottle and snacks, and an open heart and mind. Meet at St Mary's Fordwich at 2pm, no booking required.
Access: due to the woodland paths and stiles this route might not be fully accessible for people with mobility disabilities depending on your access requirements. Contact us to discuss.
