Originally dating from the late 12th Century, St Peter’s Church stands at the heart of the village of Firle.
St Peter’s Church was built in the 12th century, and the chancel and tower were added in the 13th century. It is part of the benefice of Glynde, Firle and Beddingham. The rector is Reverend Peter Owen- Jones who came to the benefice in 2005. Peter is also well known as an author and television presenter on the subjects of Christianity and environmentalism. You can be sure of a warm welcome and they will always try to accommodate pilgrims seeking Sanctuary.
The church has modern toilets and low-level butler sinks for boot cleaning. Pilgrims can sleep anywhere in the church but we recommend the carpeted areas for extra comfort. There is a limited bus service connecting to Eastbourne and Lewes. Food is available in the nearby Ram Inn, although booking ahead is recommended. Firle also has an excellent village shop.
