Pilgrim Ways to Walsingham - Thetford to Weeting
Beginning at Thetford Priory, a Augustinian monastery founded in the 12th century, you walk along the Little Ouse River Path until you encounter Santon's Holy Well, revered for its healing energies; next, the very small All Saints Church in Santon quickly followed by the medieval St. Mary's in Santon Downham, set in a tranquil haven next to the forest. The path then leads to Grime's Graves, an ancient flint mine that shows the scale of Neolithic labor with mysterious underground caverns dug by human hand. Finally, end this section at Weeting Castle, a manor house built to show the grandeur of the de Plais family in 1180. Finally, the pilgrimage culminates at Weeting Church.

At the British Pilgrimage Trust, we believe a pilgrimage should be made on an individual’s own terms. We are founded on the principle that we can all bring our own beliefs to the journey, accessible and welcoming to all.
