St Stephen's, Lympne
Castle Close, Lympne CT21 4LQ
11th Century Grade 1 Listed church next to Lympne Castle, with magnificent views to the coast and good access to local food and drink.
We are able to offer the church to take a break before continuing the journey, and as a place to sleep, with floor space in the Lady Chapel and down the aisle of the nave. The floor has ground-sourced under-floor heating. Facilities include a toilet and handbasin, and a small kitchen with sink, hot water, kettles, microwave, tea, coffee, squash and biscuits. We will endeavour to have someone at the church to welcome pilgrims, but if not, there will be an information sheet to help find their way around the building together with phone number in case of queries.
The church is situated down a quiet road, adjacent to Lympne Castle (which is privately owned and a venue for weddings and other functions). The Bistro, just past the cottages to the west of the lychgate, is available for breakfasts and lunches and occasionally evening meals, and the County Members pub, serving breakfast, lunches and evening meals, is a short walk past the Bistro, at the end of The Street.
The village shop is situated 10 minutes walk away, an hourly bus service runs between Ashford and Hythe and there is also a local taxi service.
