St John's Church, Barham
The Street, Barham, Canterbury, Kent, CT4 6PA
A 14th Century active church with green copper spire, sitting on the hillside above the village of Barham.
St. John the Baptist has been the spiritual heart of this community for very many centuries. History suggests that there was a church in Barham in 809 A.D. Today it is a busy family-orientated church. The Vestry Room is a well-appointed room which was created a few years ago, along with a kitchen and single toilet at the rear of the church. Accommodation is within the body of the church. There is a small kitchen with sink, cold water, hot water available with notice or by kettle, 2 x electrical power points but no cooking facilities.
The Duke of Cumberland pub is about 300 metres from the church. It provides good food including breakfasts at reasonable prices. There is a shop & Post Office, bus service and village taxi.
