4 day/4 night spiritual journey around the ancient and magical landmarks of Avebury
Destination:
Avebury has been a spiritual destination for millennia.
Each time I have been there, I have been awed by its presence, its energy, and its effect on my being.
For me it gives a grounding effect and asks me to re-examine my life's path.
Pilgrimage:
The practice of Pilgrimage is uncommon in this day and age - especially in the UK - but is a full and rich tradition stretching back through the ages.
Avebury itself has a rich Pilgrimage history dating back to the stone age when the ancient stone circle was built and in use, and more recently for Christian Pilgrims between the 10th and 16th centuries.
Route:
This Pilgrimage reignites this pilgrimage route, and will start at the beautiful church of St Katherine's and St Peter's in Winterbourne Bassett, where we will spend our first night. This church has been welcoming pilgrims for over a thousand years and was once a dormitory church where people slept before gathering at St James, Avebury (our second stop).
Once in Avebury, we will take in all the ancient sites to get a full understanding of the land and its importance.
After two days basking in the Avebury energies, we will make our way back to Winterbourne Bassett where our Pilgrimage will end.
