A five-day residential event for people who want to explore the dramatic Cumbrian landscape and the equally dramatic dissenter history of the C17th there. On Monday evening the guide will give an introductory talk on the tumultuous civil war history when the Quaker movement emerged. The rest of the week there will be visits, by minibus, to Brigflatts, Clitheroe, Firbank Fell, the Quaker Tapestry at Kendal, Lancaster Jail, and Sunbrick Quaker Burial ground on Birkrigg Common. There is the opportunity to climb Pendle Hill and experience a Meeting for Worship at the top but this is not obligatory. Another highlight of the trip is a tour of C16th Swarthmoor Hall itself, where daily Meetings for Worship and evening epilogues will be offered.
