London to Canterbury Pilgrims’ Way

50-100 miles, South East England

London to Canterbury Pilgrims’ Way – 68 miles – 7 days – Westminster Abbey to Canterbury Cathedral. Inevitably the traditional pilgrims route is now a busy modern transport corridor and this pedestrian route involves substantial road-walking, much on or near the busy A2, but with some quiet byways. After crossing Southwark Bridge, the route follows the Thames, then visits Greenwich Park, heading out through the suburbs to Gravesend and onward to the Medway towns, where the Saxon Shore is briefly followed, continuing via Faversham to reach Canterbury Cathedral, location of the Shrine to Thomas Becket.
